Panda Bears

There are various animal species that are heading for extinction, and are on the list of endangered animals on planet earth. Amongst them is the cute looking panda bears, cute and adorable, are on the endangered species list. The beginning of their existence on planet earth is dated back to about two to three million years. The Chinese regarded them as noble animals and were tamed by the emperors of China. The hides of these bears were amongst the precious assets owned by Chinese people.

The cause for their numbers being dangerously low is attributed to three combining factors :

- The depleting and climatically changing natural habitat.
- The limited diet on which the existence is dependant is not available in the quantity in which it is required
- Weak reproductive system
- Extremely low infant survival rate

A number of zoologists have attempted to reverse the situation by experimenting on the panda bears in captivity, but by far they have not been successful in getting the bears to reproduce. It is for this reason that the bears are left out in the wild and protected by the Chinese Government. However, there is a hope and prayer amongst animal lovers that a miracle happens and the panda bears do not go into distinction.

There are three types of this bear species : - The giant white panda
- The black Panda
- The red panda; this is also known as the lesser panda.

Theses bears are mainly found in a small region of Asian, and mainly inhabit the mountainous areas. They do not hibernate in the winter season, unlike the other bears.
